Liam Benshemer

Status: Player Induction Date: March, 2013

Liam Benshemer started his career in Journeyman in the Winter Session of 2006. He was a quiet and reserved player that easily would prove his worth in the years ahead. Liam always put the team 1st and was always focused on the game plan for any given evening in practice or game. More importantly Liam grasped what it meant to be a Journeyman and gave back to the program by coaching younger division teams, serving in community service opportunities with his family, officiating for the program, becoming a valued member of the stat bench and attending JPA meetings when provided the opportunity. Liam’s true character made him a valued team member often requested by other players when building team rosters. Teammates knew they had his best effort and valued his companionship and un-waivered friendship.
Liam’s individual achievements include; JJE-21 Division 2 Larry Bird Award Winner, JJE-24 and JJE-25 Division 1 Larry Bird Award Winner, he was presented Journeyman shooting shirt for superior dedication to the program in April of 2008, On Division 1 Championship Team for February Vacation 3 on 3 Tournament in 2008, he made BLUECOLLAR Crew for 2000 Shots Camp 2008 and 2009, was made a staff member of Journeyman Summer Camp 08 due to superior attitude and follow-through. He earned Honorable Volunteer Jacket Fall 2009, during SJE-33 he received MVV Award for being a truly dedicated volunteer, was awarded SJE-33 All-Star Game MVP. At this point of induction Liam will be ranked #9 all time in point system points and has received Player of the Game Honors 28 times in his career. Liam will also finish tied for #6 in career games played, #3 in blocked shots, #4 in total rebounds and #9 in career free-throws made. Liam’s evident good character and dedication to his team and the program, will not soon be forgotten. Other players in the program may have had abilities equivalent to his but few demonstrated dedication at his high level. Although I am sure he will be busy coordinating his college life we hope Liam continues to attend alumni functions and possibly considers coaching again with the program when his schedule allows. Please join us in congratulating Liam Benshemer, a true Journeyman.
