This Summer Session (76th) will offer Division2, Division1, SENIORS and JHAWKS!

Please DO NOT CALL and ask for your student athlete to be advanced to the next division in advance of opening day. For many reasons, parents should never try to choose their child’s division before the staff even get a chance to review their skill level. Many factors are taken into consideration before advancement. Factors like, confidence, the best needs of the group and room in the next division.

Please understand that the schedule takes 7-12 days to populate after opening day. Once registration closes it lets us know how many teams we have in each division. From there, we build a schedule. So teach your athlete to watch the calendar regularly. It is the best way to get the most current information.

YAMO GAMES! REMEMBERING A GREAT JOURNEYMAN.

(more about YAMO at the bottom of this post)

NEXT UP…… 76th Session YAMO GAMES expected to be late August 2026.

Please keep an eye on the calendar. This is where we post this event as soon as the time is allotted.

NOTE: Players finishing in the top 10 of PSP for their respective division are awarded YAMO Starter status. YAMO Reserves are those that finished top 10 in votes after YAMO Starters were separated from the results. Starters are not “chosen” and Reserves earned their spot through the voting process. Journeyman Basketball does not negotiate the results of this roster. Those not reaching a minimum 7 GAMES ATTENDED may not be considered for YAMO Games. This means athletes can receive enough votes to be a YAMO All-Star but are deemed ineligible due to not meeting the minimal requirement for games attended.

YAMO game rosters are posted as soon as the regularly scheduled games are complete. We total the PSP (Point System Points) and post STARTERS. Then we add up the votes and post RESERVES and ALTERNATES.

MORE ABOUT YAMO!

Anthony P. Guglielmo, Jr.

Hampton – Anthony Patrick Guglielmo, Jr., 53, of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home after a 10 year battle with cancer. Anthony was born in Boston, MA on June 24, 1967, the son of Irene (Finocchio) Guglielmo of Hampton and the late Anthony P. Guglielmo, Sr. Anthony shared over 23 years of marriage with his wife, Karen (McCauley) Guglielmo.

Anthony was raised in Wilmington, MA and graduated from Wilmington High with the Class of 1985. He entered the University of Massachusetts at Amherst through the ROTC Program and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1990. As told by Anthony, It is here that he picked up the YAMO nickname. Anthony moved to Atlanta shortly after and met his wife Karen there. In 1997, after his honorable service with the United States Army, he and Karen were married and eventually settled in Hampton in 2000 to raise their family.

Anthony owned and operated a Commercial Mortgage Company in Portsmouth for a few years before returning to his true love of advertising sales. His area of expertise was in movie advertising and he worked for National CineMedia Group until falling ill.

Anthony was devoted to his family and he loved them dearly. He was deeply involved with his three son’s many sports teams as they grew up. He coached flag football and basketball for the Hampton Youth Association and also coached his boys’ basketball teams at Sacred Heart School and for the Journeyman Basketball program. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Hampton and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Anthony was also an active scout leader for the OLMM boy scout troop for a number of years. He loved living on the seacoast and enjoying the outdoors. Anthony spent a lot of quality time at Plaice Cove Beach in Hampton with his dog Baxter and his family.

In addition to his wife Karen and his mom Irene, Anthony is survived by his sons, Ethan, Roman and Noah – who he was beyond proud of. He is also survived by his sister, Patrice Lowell and her husband, Michael of Derry, NH and last but not least, his Goldendoodle and best buddy, Baxter. He was predeceased by his late brother Gregory in 1968. Anthony leaves behind an extended group of family and friends who loved him dearly.

YAMO GAME
Our All-Star Game was officially renamed the YAMO Game in June of 2021. This was after we lost a great supporter and friend Anthony “YAMO” Guglielmo.
YAMO All-Star Requirements and Rules (rev. 11282024)
A Privilege for Elite Players.
Please review the rules in regard to YAMO Game eligibility and selection. Keep in mind that this is an “All-Star” Game. Those elite players, agree or not, are afforded an “extra” game (by extra we mean not part of the budget of Journeyman Basketball, more of a donation from the program to the kids).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Journeyman reserves the right to have YAMO Games for those divisions with more than 30 athletes. The staff of Journeyman may allow a division with less than 30 athletes to participate in an YAMO game but will only need to select no more than 16 participants. (10 starters and 6 reserves)
Please understand the Journeyman Basketball is a private organization and wishes to keep the YAMO Game a positive experience utilizing rules that have been modified and improved over a 20 year period.
All-Star statistics are tracked separate similar to B Travel and Alumni Stats.

Rule #1 – A Journeyman must have a minimum of 7 games ATTENDED in order to be eligible for the All-Star ballot.
Rule #2 – A Journeyman must have a minimum of 7 games ATTENDED in order to have his votes counted.
Rule #3 – A Journeyman with 3 or more technical fouls or more than 1 ejection, or any suspension, loses his or her eligibility for an All-Star appearance.
Rule #4 – There are 10 available starting spots in an All-Star Game. (5 for East and 5 for West) The players with the most PSP in their division, meeting the minimum games attended rule, (rule #1) will take these starting spots.
Rule #5 – After starters are established, the next 10 players will be reserves. These players are the ones that received the most votes.
Rule #6 – 4 Alternates can be listed. This is a continuance of votes and listed accordingly. These players will only participate as a reserve player. If a current reserve forfeits his spot due to previous commitment, illness or injury, or advancement to starter. Each alternate will be called as soon as this spot becomes available, in the order posted on the All-Star Alternate Roster.
Rule #7 – Swing player’s rule. Swing players are ineligible to participate in their more advanced divisions YAMO Game. When JHAWKS swing to D1 or D2 they are eligible provided they earn a starting spot with PSP. But because they get an additional 10 games, they are ineligible to receive a reserve spot.
Rule #8 – In the event of a tie in PSP in a 10th spot, the starting position or reserve position goes to the athlete with more games attended. This awards commitment to Journeyman. If they have the same, resort to total career games played. The player bumped out of the starter or reserve spot (due to this rule) gets 1st spot in the reserve or alternate role.
Rule #9 – If a starter cannot attend a YAMO Game their starting spot will be given to the non-starting athlete with the most votes. PSP would no longer be a factor in the award of that roster spot. This means the 11th athlete in PSP would not necessarily get the spot unless he was the player with the most votes.
Rule #10 – Teams are selected by staff. The leader in PSP will always be listed first on the EAST roster. Number one in votes will be listed first on the WEST roster unless he is a reserve player. If #1 in votes is on the reserve roster, #2 in PSP will be listed first on the WEST roster. Staff will use their best judgment when building YAMO All-Star rosters.
• Try to match like talent to play against each other
• Put former teammates on different teams
Rule #11 – Division of court time. YAMO games are instructed to use the following substitution pattern if 20 YAMO All-Stars are chosen.
• Two 20-minute halves are slated for the event (provided there are 10 athletes on each roster). The Game is divided into 5 periods.
• 1st period 6 minutes. (for starters)
• 2nd period 8 minutes. (for reserves)
• 3rd period 6 minutes. (for starters) (first half complete)
• 4th period 10 minutes. (for reserves)
• 5th period 10 minutes. (for starters) (game complete)
• Substitutions outside of the parameters above can only be made due to injury, fatigue or at the request of a YAMO All-Star. When leaving the court they may choose their own replacement.

The Board of Directors feel that at this point in the establishment of the YAMO Game, that these rules are non-negotiable. These rules have been changed nearly every year since the creation of the event in 2002. All concerns will be heard when brought to our attention in a courteous and professional manner. We ask that you send such communication to info@journeymanbasketball.com. This e-mail can be accessed by all board members and will be addressed quickly and professionally. These e-mails need not be sent directly to the president any longer.

Thank You Letters

Every session, Journeyman staff and coaches ask that players show their appreciation by writing thank you letters to people who have been supportive of them or made a positive impact on their lives. We feel that this exercise helps build character in our players.

The rules for these letters are as follows:

The letter should meet a 100 word minimum.

They can be written to anyone the player feels the need to thank if written before game 1 of their session.

A copy of their letter must be passed in to a Journeyman staff member by the above stated due date, regardless of who it is written to as a means of validation. Emailed letters to Journeyman staff can not be used as a point of validation nor can they be emailed to the recipient.

Such letter can be typed or written by hand and must be physically mailed or handed to the recipient. E-mail is not allowed as a means of delivery or validation.

If the letter is not written by game 1, the player will serve a 1 game suspension. Suspensions must be served in uniform and on the bench. These suspensions will continue until the letter is written, passed in and validated by Journeyman staff.

Journeyman wishes to promote a sense of appreciation in young athletes. We want them to understand the importance of gratitude. Making a volunteer, close friend, family member, teacher or coach of any sport feel appreciated is often the only “payment” they need. We also ask that the players ensure these letters are genuine and sincere. Letters hastily written in the car right before the posted due date are easily detected and are greatly frowned upon. Our President JP Sanborn will track the receipt of letters to insure that all players have complied with the policy.

The JAC (Journeyman Advisory Committee) thanks you for your continued support of Journeyman Basketball.

Starting May 28th, 2025 we posted a way to submit funds to assist those in need.

100% of your contribution goes directly to athletes in need.

Journeyman NEVER wants finance to be the reason someone does not participate!

Here is how it works!

When we offer assistance the Journeyman Players Association provides $40. The Journeyman contributes an additional $40 registration reduction. So, $80 is deducted from your session balance. When the board of directors meet, they disseminate the funds in a fair and impartial manor. When scholarship funds are received they are posted here! When they are awarded, they are also posted here. Just a bit of transparency.

Remember, if you ever donate funs to be used for a specific athlete, you must communicate that information to us! You can do this in the notes section of your order or by sending an email to info@journeymanbasketball.com.
