For what seemed an eternity of friendship, dedication to the program and memories that will not soon be forgotten Journeyman wishes to induct Conan L’Italien into the Hall of Fame.
Conan will be remembered athletically for his unbelievable moves and passing IQ. His play fakes and ability to move his body in the most unpredictable ways made for jaw dropping performances. He is one of the top rebounders of all time and in Journeyman’s top 20 all time in assists.
Some of Conan’s individual achievements include, JJE-46 Division 2 Larry Bird Award Winner, JJE-49 Division 2 Most Valuable Player, JJE-52 Division 1 CE Coffey Award Winner co-recipient, JJE-53 Division 1 Most Valuable Player co-recipient, Journeyman’s 55th Session Team Leader Award, JJE-55 Division 1 Tournament Point Co-Leader, JJE-55 Division 1 Championship Game Most Valuable Player, JJE-55 Division 1 Most Valuable Player co-recipient, SJE-58 Senior Division 6th Man Award Winner, SJE-62 Senior Division Best Defensive Player and SJE-64 Senior Division All-Star Game Most Valuable Player. Conan has achieved 2 Career Triple Doubles JJE-49 & SJE-62, 39 Career Double Doubles and has received Player of the Game honors 27 times. He will also finish in Journeyman’s All-Time Top Ten in rebounds.
Now, the important stuff. When we look at Conan’s career with Journeyman so many positive attributes and memories come to light. As we mention some of these, we will hold the most memorable for last.
Conan’s effort will be remembered with the best Journeyman has had to offer. He was always ready to deliver the game winning assist or be ready to allow he teammates the opportunity to succeed. He was selfless in his dedication to his teammates and the program. Conan never opted out of community service projects and was often the first to arrive for such projects. He volunteered at the stat bench, worked at camps, assisted the JPA with decisions and assisted with couching younger players.
What is better than the attributes above you ask? FRIENDHSIP and concern for others. When Journeyman of Conan’s era are asked to think of great teammates, we have no question that most or dare I say all, would mention his name. Conan always be his teammates first. He was the loudest at supporting them and was never heard uttering a bad word about them. Lastly many divisional drafts fought for the Conan L’Italien pick! They knew what they were going to get pleaded to work with him.
Conan, the program benefitted greatly from your time with us in so many ways. Ultimately you made the program a better place to be. For that we are forever grateful. Coaching staff will continue to use you when praising commitment, effort and unselfishness. Return to the gym whenever you can! Please join us in congratulating Conan L’Italien a true Journeyman.
